3 Possible Reasons Your Healing is Not Manifesting
You believe the Word of God. You’re standing on the Word of God. You’re even speaking the Word of God. But the situation doesn’t seem to be changing.
This can be a very frustrating place to be and I’ve been there. What do you do when your healing is not manifesting?
The book of Proverbs tells us that hope deferred makes the heart sick (Proverbs 13:12). If you have been believing for your healing or any other promise of God for a really long time but are not seeing it manifest, it can make your heart sick. You can begin to become discouraged, frustrated, and even angry.
But there is hope! The rest of this verse in Proverbs says that when the desire has come, it is a tree of life. Jesus is the tree of life, and He has come!
The truth is that there are multiple reasons you may not be seeing the manifestation of your healing. I’ve been there and I’ve learned a few things along the way that I want to share with you to encourage you.
I am certain that the Lord will always lead you into the victory He has accomplished if you are willing to listen and follow Him.
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. 2 Corinthians 2:14
So let’s look at 3 possible reasons your healing is not manifesting in your physical body.
1. You Don’t Really Believe In Your Heart
“Of course I believe!” you may be saying. You may even be offended by me questioning your level of belief. But I’ve been there. I thought I was believing something because I was confessing it all the time and I’d been a Christian for years. But when I really sat down with myself and looked in my heart, I realized that in my heart I didn’t actually believe that my healing had already been accomplished. I was waiting on it to happen rather than celebrating that it was done.
The power you need lies in your agreement. What are you agreeing with in your heart? What do you really believe? A good way to find out is to look at your actions. Your actions will show you what you really believe.
Be honest with yourself. What do you really believe at your core? Do you believe that Jesus has already healed you or are you waiting on Him? Are you waiting to see the healing in your physical body before you believe it has been done?
Anyone can believe they are healed once the symptoms are gone, they feel better and they get a good report from the doctor. But walking by faith means that we believe what God says before we see it.
Under the glorious New Covenant, we are not waiting for God to heal us. This is the number one hindrance I see in people not experiencing the manifestation of their healing. They are waiting on God to do it instead of realizing it’s already done.
I understand how hard this can be. When the symptoms are screaming at you, how can you possibly believe that Jesus has already healed you? It requires faith. What is real in your spirit has to become more real to you than what’s going on in your physical body.
The healing that Jesus has provided for you is within you. In your spirit man, you are completely healed and whole. You’ve got it! Once this reality becomes more real to you than your physical symptoms, you will see your body come in line with what’s true in your spirit.
You are designed to operate from the real you, your spirit. What Jesus has provided for you is all within your spirit. Your soul (your mind, will, and emotions) are like the filter that gets everything out of your spirit into your physical body. As you make a decision to believe the Word of God and what’s already true in your spirit, you will see it manifest in your body. It may take some time, but if you don’t quit, you will win.
Do you really believe that you have already been healed? You’ll know you believe when you stop asking God to heal you. Your prayer changes to thanking Him for what He’s already done instead of asking Him for what He’s already given you.
2. You’re Speaking and Acting the Opposite
When you really believe something in your heart, your actions prove it. This is what the book of James is talking about when it says “faith without works is dead” (James 2:20).
Real belief is proven by your actions. If you really believe you have been healed, why in the world would you be lying in bed drinking soup? Do you see my point? Healed people aren’t lying in bed!
I know that it can be weird when you first hear this. You’re not acting healed in order to make your healing happen. You’re acting healed because you really know that you are!
This is huge. I’ve met people who say they believe God’s Word that “by His stripes they were healed” (1 Peter 2:24) but their entire life is scheduled around their sickness. Their plans revolve around the sickness. Which one do you really believe?
Look at your daily actions and you will see what you believe. What you believe about God, about yourself and about your life can all be clearly seen in your actions. Be honest with yourself and let this assessment reveal your heart to you.
3. You’re Mixing Your Words
Many people know the power of confessing the Word of God. The Bible says that life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).
However, if you are speaking what God says about the situation but also speaking what you see in the natural, you are mixing your confession. It can’t be both. You must speak only in agreement with the Word of God.
Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both saltwater and fresh. James 3:10-12
You may think it seems a bit crazy to refuse to speak what you see in the natural world, but if you are determined to see God’s provision manifest in your life, you will become this serious about it. If you believe that you are healed according to the Word of God, then you must refuse to speak anything contrary to that.
You can learn polite and respectful ways to respond when people ask how you are doing. You are not lying when you say you are healed. This is the truth, a reality in the spirit realm.
The spirit realm is more real than the natural, physical realm. The spiritual realm is the parent force to the physical world. Everything in the natural realm was created from the spiritual realm.
When what is true in the spiritual realm becomes more real to you than what is happening in the natural realm, then you have learned to walk in the spirit by faith. You will begin to see the realities of what Jesus has done through His finished work move from the spiritual realm into your physical world.
By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:3
while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18
Walking by faith means setting your attention on what is true in the spirit realm and speaking only in agreement with that. Symptoms or circumstances may be screaming at you, but you can choose to focus on what God says is true and only speak in agreement with Him.
For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

Do You Want to Be Healed?
You may think “of course I want to be healed!”. But there’s more to it than that. When Jesus encountered the man who had been sick for 38 years at the pool of Bethseda, He asked the man “Do you want to be made well?”
When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” John 5:6
When you study this verse out, you will find that an even more accurate translation of what Jesus was asking would be “Do you have a strong determination to be well?”.
Why would Jesus ask this if the sick man was obviously at the pool trying to get healed? Because Jesus knew that it would require an entire life change for this man. He was basically saying “Are you ready for your life to change?” “Are you ready for a mindset change?”
If you have been sick for a long time, I would ask you the same question. Are you ready to lay down the life you have known for so long and be made well? Are you willing to give up the disability check or the attention you may get from others? Are you ready to change your whole lifestyle? Are you ready to think of yourself as a completely healthy person? Are you ready to get back to work and separate from all thoughts of sickness?
If you’ve been sick a long time, you need a new mindset that is in agreement with God. Sometimes sickness can creep into our identity, into the way we see ourselves. Be willing to lay down how you have seen yourself for so long and come into agreement with your true identity- healed, whole, strong and full of life!
