How to Believe God For a Pregnancy
Are you believing God for a pregnancy?
Maybe you’re asking yourself “does God want me to have a baby?” or “why am I not getting pregnant”?
Have you spent months and months hoping and praying this may be the month? Even while I’m writing this, the painful memories return of when I went through this.
The pain of infertility is so deep, like a knife cutting through your heart. I’ve been there. The pain is hard to describe unless you’ve experienced it. It’s like your entire being is crying out for life in the womb. It is all consuming.
BUT I HAVE GOOD NEWS FOR YOU!
Jesus has paid the price for anything that would stop you from conceiving and carrying a baby full term. God wants you to be fruitful, and He has made the provision for you to do so.
You can believe God for a pregnancy, because this is absolutely His will for you (Exodus 23:26).
I do want to preface everything I am writing with the truth that God wants you to have children within a marriage union.
God is not withholding a child from you! Absolutely not.
His desire is for you to bring forth life, to give birth to healthy, blessed children. Malachi 2:15 tells us that God seeks Godly offspring and that this is a reason for marriage.
The finished work of Jesus is really, in reality, good news for anything you face in life, including infertility or miscarriage.
Jesus has redeemed us from every sickness and every disease through His work on the cross. He has redeemed you from barrenness and miscarriage.
No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days. Exodus 23:26 NKJV
Infertility and miscarriage were brought into this world by sin. They are a form of death- never the intention of our wonderful Heavenly Father.
God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. You must reject any and all thoughts that tell you God is somehow behind the delay in your getting pregnant. This is a lie.
God is not making you wait. He’s not postponing the blessing. He has already given you healthy, blessed children when He took your sin on the cross.
How could He withhold something He’s already given?
Your healthy pregnancy is not a promise, but a provision. Already given.
God’s Will is for You to Have Children
Whenever God wants to bless and increase His people, He multiplies them through an abundance of children. Having an abundance of children goes hand in hand with a nation being blessed. Barrenness is a curse, not a blessing! Everywhere you see barrenness in the Bible, it was a curse. And Jesus has redeemed us from the curse!
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), Galatians 3:13
Not only does God want you to have a baby, He has made provision for anything that could be preventing it. No more asking Him if it’s His will, no more wondering if He’s withholding for some reason. He absolutely wants you and your spouse (in a marriage covenant) to reproduce.
Infertility Has Been Disarmed at the Cross
So if it’s God’s will for you to have children, then why is it taking so long? What is causing the problem? There are many answers to that, but the good news is that every single cause of infertility has been paid for at the cross.
All infertility is caused by some sickness or disease in the reproductive system and Jesus has given us authority over every sickness and every disease. This is really good news! Anything that could cause it has been taken care of. Jesus is so good!
When you pray to get pregnant, it is important to understand that you don’t have to beg God. You must realize what He’s done on the cross, and thank Him for it.
Jesus has paid the price for you to be able to get pregnant, and He’s given you the authority to command your body to come into agreement with His will.
The Breakthrough to Getting Pregnant
The breakthrough came for me when I truly got the revelation that getting pregnant was a finished work. I finally got the revelation in my heart that this was done. I didn’t have to ask God anymore. I took hold of our children by faith and I knew I had the answer to my prayer.
I knew that I was no longer waiting to be pregnant, believing that one day I would be.
I took it by faith and received the pregnancy in the spiritual realm. I remember saying “I have it now, I’m pregnant now” over and over. I really got it.
It was a couple months later that a pregnancy test showed what I believed in my heart. It had finally manifested in the physical realm what was always true in the spiritual realm. Here is my story…
My Story of Believing God For a Pregnancy
My first born son was 4 years old. I had waited until the “right time” to have another baby. I thought it would be when my son was 3, but a move across the country postponed it. So when my son was 4 years and 3 months old, I decided it was time.
A few months passed, and the tormenting thoughts began. What if I had waited too long? I was 32 at the time. What if something was wrong?
After all, it had only taken a few months to get pregnant with my first son. I started to google how long it takes to get pregnant (big mistake). I read that most women get pregnant within 6 months. OK, I thought. I’ve still got some time. But then 6 months came and went. The months rolled by and every month I thought I was pregnant. But it wasn’t happening.
More and more I really, really wanted another child. I began grieving and regretting the fact that I had waited so long. The sting of regret was overwhelmingly painful. Finally after a year of trying to conceive, I reached out to friends with what I was going through. My friends prayed for me.
Every month that passed I would be so full of hope, only to crash in pain when my cycle started. All the internet articles said that after a year I should start reaching out to fertility doctors. I knew this was not the route I would take.
I began really digging into what God had to say about this. The thoughts were still constantly tormenting me. Maybe it was too late. Maybe it would never happen. Was God withholding? I knew the Bible said in Psalm 84:11 that God would not withhold good from me. So what was going on?
I began meditating on Deuteronomy 28:11 and Psalm 128:3.
And the Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. Deuteronomy 28:11
“Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.” Psalm 128:3
Both of these verses promised multiple children. The months kept rolling by. My thoughts were consumed with fertility. And yet, still no baby. What was I missing?
Finally, after almost a year and a half, I got the breakthrough. No, it wasn’t a positive pregnancy test yet, but it was an even bigger breakthrough than that.
First, I got the revelation that I was not in faith. What? How could I not be in faith? Because I was believing that I would be pregnant in the future. I believed that one day it was going to happen. This is hope, not faith.
I remember the exact moment when I stepped into faith. I said “I have it now. I am pregnant now.” I knew at that moment that I had conceived spiritually. I knew I had it. I was no longer believing that one day it would happen. I had taken it by faith and received it into my body. From that moment on, I began to declare “I have it now.” “I am pregnant now.”
About a month later, I got a real, heart level revelation that my fruitfulness was indeed part of the finished work of Jesus Christ. Oh the wonderful finished work of the cross. Everything we could possibly need was covered in that work. Thank You Jesus!
I learned that all forms of infertility were caused by some kind of sickness or disease in the reproductive system. This was really good news for me because I knew that Jesus had taken our sicknesses and diseases on the cross and rendered them powerless against us (Isaiah 53).
I discovered that fruitfulness was not a promise, but a provision. A done deal. Infertility had been put on that cross and stripped of power to affect me. I began to rest in my soul.
For we which have believed do enter into rest… Hebrews 4:3
This is a great indicator to whether or not we are actually in faith. When we truly believe something, we have rest about it in our souls. This is exactly what happened. I was finally at rest. I knew with everything in me that I had what I desired. This only came by revelation.
The next month, on the day I started my cycle, I texted my husband and asked him to pray. This was not a prayer request out of despair like so many months before. I knew what the outcome of this situation would be, but still felt the pressure of emotion coming at me and needed the prayer support to subdue my emotions and stay in faith.
My husband prayed in faith and agreement with a friend. At the same time he was praying, I felt in my body that something had been healed. I did not know at the time that my husband was praying. This turned out to be the first day of my pregnancy. Two weeks later we conceived.
During that prayer, something else significant happened. My husband was reminded of words that had been spoken over him as a child about the ‘limited’ number of children he would be able to have.
As a young child, he believed these words. At the moment the memory of those words being spoken was resurfaced, he immediately came out of agreement with them. I believe this unconscious agreement with the enemy was what was allowing the delayed fertility to progress.
God is faithful. His Word always works. The finished work is indeed a finished work. Everything is covered.
Whatever situation you are going through, ask yourself- what has the finished work provided in this area?
Then, enter into the rest and provision already provided. Begin declaring what He has done out of this place of faith and rest and watch your situation change. God is so good!

Psalm 113:9 He settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the LORD.
Psa 128:2-3 You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table.
